Bertuzzi was drafted 23rd overall by the New York Islanders in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. After starting his career with the Islanders, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in 1998, where he became one of the most dominant power forwards in the league. Playing on the Canucks’ top line with Markus Naslund and Brendan Morrison, Bertuzzi was a major offensive threat, combining scoring ability with a rugged, physical game. His best season came in 2002-2003, when he scored 46 goals and 97 points, earning him a spot on the NHL First All-Star Team.
